Professional Background

Sara was a professor in the department of political science at John Carroll University where she taught for 20 years. Her focus was on American Politics, specifically the federal courts, and regularly published about the federal judicial nomination/confirmation process.  She also works with the Ohio Innocence Project and through that relationship developed a class on Wrongful Convictions, which was one of her favorites to teach at JCU!

Soccer Experience/Volunteerism

Sara is an active community and school volunteer, having served on the City’s Recreation Committee and the Onaway and Woodbury PTO’s.  She is currently a member of the Mandel JCC’s Board of Trustees and sits on the Early Childhood Committee. Her boys play both Travel and Premier Club soccer.

Personal

Sara grew up in Shaker Heights (Lomond) and married a fellow Shaker native (Fernway) and is thrilled her two boys are enjoying their Shaker experience as much as she and her husband did.  She and her family love to spend time with friends at the new Van Aken district, especially after a great SYSA win!
