Toya Butler

Professional background

Toya is a Health Systems Specialist & Field Operation Assistant for the Department of Veterans Affairs Central Office, headquartered in Washington, DC. Prior to this role, Toya served as the Acting Executive Director of the Cleveland Federal Executive Board. As the primary facilitator of interagency cooperation for Federal Executive Board (FEB) Lines of Business with local federal agency leaders and the US Office of Personnel Management FEB office in Washington, DC, Toya led the Board’s improvement of interagency communication and coordination of more than 100 Federal agencies and over 22,000 Federal employees working in Northeastern Ohio.

Soccer experience/Volunteerism

Toya’s love for soccer began in 2016 when her oldest son began playing soccer in Landstuhl, Germany. Following their return to the United States, Toya began coaching youth soccer in Kansas. During her years of coaching, Toya recognized the sport of soccer offered the unique opportunity for connecting diverse families and fostering a foundation for inclusion. Toya’s family was welcomed with open arms into the SYSA community in 2021 and feels fortunate to be a part of such a phenomenal organization. She looks forward to maintaining and expanding the welcoming arms while serving on the board.

Personal

Toya lives in Shaker Heights with her two beautiful boys, both actively involved in soccer. After struggling to have it all at the start of the pandemic, Toya has sought to redefine what it means to balance business, parenting, sports, and the desire to voyage around the world.
