U8 Developmental League
Co-ed Under 8 (U8) Developmental League
Our Co-ed Under 8 program is geared for boys and girls ages 5-7. Teams play games in a 4v4 format with other teams in our region. Games are held on Saturday afternoons against other Eastside communities and provide opportunities for players to develop at an advanced pace with help from SYSA Staff Coaches.
- 5-7 year old boys and girls seeking a higher level of training.
- Staff coach for every team
- Registration includes Fall (late August through October) and Spring (early April through early June) outdoor seasons with optional, but highly recommended indoor sessions during winter months.
- 2 weekly practices plus additional skill session practices and a Saturday game against other NEO communities.
Some years, there are enough U8 players who are old enough and have developed the soccer skills and maturity to form a team that can enter a U9 division in a winter league or OHTSL for the Spring season. This varies from year to year and is at SYSA’s discretion.
It is important to note that players develop and progress at varying paces; whether a child plays on a less competitive or more competitive team does not determine where they will be placed in future seasons. Younger players may play several seasons in this league before they are developmentally ready to play on a U9 team. Players are invited to try out each spring for the following year, and will be placed on a team based on their birth year, prior coach’s evaluation, and try-out performance. As always, SYSA’s ability to run these programs depends on coaching availability, space constraints, and our wonderful parent volunteers.
